17.12.2009 True to its professed aim of achieving quality in all areas including sustainability, Koebcke began work on the introduction of an environment management system in May 2009. TÜV Rheinland has certified the company's quality system to ISO 9001:2008 and its environment management system to ISO 14001:2004, meaning that the latter can continue to be actively implemented in Koebcke's operational and production processes. As an independent certification body, it issues certificates which are recognised all over the world. At Koebcke, the protection of the environment has been a corporate principle for decades, so much so that it is now part of the fabric of the company. With the successful introduction of the certified environment management system, the environmentally-friendly approach to production processes which has been practised for many years will be further optimised. Koebcke is active in the information management sector. Amongst is contributions to the protection of the environment are the development of technologies to simplify the digital processing and distribution of information, thereby cutting paper consumption. The accompanying reduction in the use of delivery vehicles in turn reduces the impact on natural resources. Koebcke prioritises the protection of the environment where all of its other activities are concerned too, and is committed to a continuous process of improvement to propel the company forward both ecologically and economically. Internally, Koebcke's environment policy aims to raise awareness of relevant issues on the part of managers and employees. As a result, resources are used sparingly and a conservative approach is adopted when working with materials and equipment which are harmful to water. By working together with providers of specialist waste disposal services, Koebcke is able to provide an assurance that used consumables (such as toner cartridges, waste paper, etc.) will be disposed of in an environmentally-friendly way. Decision-makers in the company's purchasing department only work with suppliers who can guarantee that ecological methods will be used to dispose of paper, ink, toner, etc. Compliance with legal requirements and directives set outside of the company is of course also assured, along with observance of customer requirements. Furthermore, employees from third-party companies are also made aware of our environment policy and the associated measures to be taken. The beginning of this year also saw Koebcke introduce energy-saving systems, including two new Xerox machine models which consume less energy than their predecessors. Both products have "Energy Star" certification. The main reason for selecting Xerox as a machine supplier was the company's position leading the field in aspects of sustainable development. During the same period that Koebcke celebrated certification of its environment management system for the first time, the company achieved certification for its quality management system to ISO 9001:2008 for the 12th consecutive time with the successful completion of the relevant supervisory audit. "We are proud to have achieved certification for our environment and quality management systems - and we are delighted to share the news of our successes in the areas of quality and eco friendliness with our customers," said Benno Hübel, Managing Director of Koebcke GmbH.
